Rick Howe, Chief Executive – Lifetime Support AuthorityThe past few months have been a productive and rewarding time for the LSA, with positive engagement across a range of important events and partnerships.

During Spinal Cord Awareness Week, I had the honour of opening an exhibition basketball game at the Repat, bringing together patients, staff, and community members to foster connection, learning and community.

Our longstanding partnership with the RAA continued to thrive through the sponsorship of Street Smart Primary and Street Smart High programs. These initiatives reached thousands of South Australian students, providing interactive road safety education designed to empower young people to learn about safety on our roads. It was great to see the creativity of primary school students during the design challenge, judged by our People and Partnerships Director, Mandy Turnbull. Meanwhile, high school students experienced a confronting crash simulation at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, deepening their understanding of road safety risk factors.

We were also proud to be a presenting partner at the 2025 Brain Injury Awareness Week event held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, with presentations on Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson’s and Dementia.

In September, the 2025 LSA Innovate Forum brought together over 90 researchers, service providers, and key partners to showcase ground-breaking research funded by the LSA - all focused on improving survivability and increasing quality of life for people who sustain serious injuries in motor vehicle accidents.

We recently hosted an Allied Health Provider Forum and Participant Forum, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration, feedback, and shared learning between our Participants, Service Providers, and the LSA team.

Our 2024-2025 LSA Annual Report has been finalised and will be tabled in Parliament shortly, after which it will be made available on our website. In it we share our achievements and future direction with our stakeholders, as well as providing an update on scheme performance and financial results for the year.

Lastly, we are currently progressing a review of the LSS Rules and will be consulting widely with stakeholders and the public before finalising this in 2026.
