Welcome to the first edition of the LSS News for 2025.

Rick Howe, Chief Executive – Lifetime Support AuthorityWe started the calendar year with our typical strategic and financial review. The Finance team have been busy working with Finity, our actuary, to prepare the valuation and LSS Levy reports, to help us determine the levy needed to charge motorists next financial year to meet our predicted participant treatment, care and support liabilities. The Board held a strategic planning session in February. This was an important opportunity to discuss current and future challenges and set the direction of the LSA.

In February, we also kicked off the first Participant Reference Group (PRG) meeting with a new cohort of PRG members. The PRG is a small group of participants and family members who provide valuable feedback to the LSA. PRG members are in the unique position to understand what other people in the Scheme are experiencing and share insights. The PRG forms part of the LSA's commitment to put people first in the design and development of services and to ensure participants and their families have real opportunities to influence the way services are delivered.

In March, the LSA proudly supported the national amputee conference, AMPed Up! This Limbs4Life conference brought the amputee community, specialist service providers and leading researchers to Adelaide this year. I was fortunate enough to share a little about the LSA with conference delegates at the welcome event and a number of Services staff attended for professional development.

As we near the end of the current financial year celebrating the LSA’s 10 years of operation, we are wrapping up the LSA’s 10-year anniversary initiatives. You can view a recap of the events held this financial year on the LSA website. I wanted to conclude our 10-year anniversary acknowledgements by recognising the small number of staff who have celebrated 10 years with the LSA. Their service is a testament to hard work, commitment and flexibility to adapt as our organisation has evolved. We invited staff to share their reflections on the past decade at the LSA. You can read their stories in this edition of the LSS News.
