Twice a year, the LSA holds a Participant Forum and invites participants and their families to come together and hear from guest speakers.
On Friday 15 November 2024, the LSA welcomed 31 attendees to a special 10-Year Anniversary Participant Forum. The presentations included:
- Kylie Smith, Director, Services provided a Lifetime Support Scheme update including initiatives to acknowledge the Scheme’s 10-year anniversary
- a participant shared the story of their motor vehicle accident and recovery
- a cooking demonstration with Callum Hann, winner of Masterchef Australia All-Stars and co-owner of Sprout Cooking School
Callum prepared a Sri Lankan fish curry in the LSA office kitchen. Attendees were invited to ask questions throughout the cooking demonstration. Callum highlighted how cost, complexity and mess can be barriers to cooking and therefore healthy eating. He shared a wealth of knowledge covering cooking tips, preferred ingredients, budget friendly options and time saving ideas. Attendees were able to taste test the Sri Lankan fish curry and everyone was impressed by the flavours of the simple yet nutritious dish.
For those participants who are living in a rural location or not able to attend the forum, the presentations are recorded and shared with all participants online so they can keep up-to-date with the latest news.
