Welcome to the 2018 Summer Edition of LSS News.
The warm weather, Christmas decorations and a series of great events have all come barrelling in – which means the end of the year is approaching and a couple of busy weeks lay ahead.
THANK YOU to everyone who attended Celebrate on the Square on Friday, 30th November for International Day of People with Disability in Victoria Square. His Excellency The Governor’s wife, Mrs Lan Le, the Minister for Human Services, Michelle Lensink and Shadow Minister, Nat Cook have all been amazing advocates for disability and the Lifetime Support Scheme for a number of years and again took time to come to Victoria Square and join the celebration.
You can see the inaugural IDPwD Award winners on our website along with photos and some videos from the day. The organising team did a great job, as always, and the event has grown so much thanks to their efforts and your attendance. We’re already looking forward to next year.
At Celebrate on the Square, the South Australian Public Sector, showed its commitment to increasing the participation of people with a disability in the workforce through the recent partnership with Job Access to promote recruiting people with a disability. Commissioner for Public Sector Employment, Erma Ranieri, spoke about the partnership at the event. Through the partnership, the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (OPSE) has focused on disability awareness training, education and support for public sector agencies to improve disability employment outcomes, and development of resources and support for Agencies and hiring managers. Supporting people with disability to gain employment in the South Australian Public Sector is a key commitment to ensure workplace diversity and to foster an inclusive culture.

The ability to regain some independence is a common goal for many participants, and MyWay gives people the chance to have more choice and control. The pilot program is underway with a small trial group – Read More.
For those taking a break, have a great Christmas and New Year and thank you to people who are working right through the holiday season.
The LSA office will be open during the Christmas period and can be contacted on (08) 8463 6131.
From the whole team, have a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
