The LSA has a strong and experienced team of Service Planners who have been working directly with injured people, their families and carers, and liaising with service providers and personal care and support attendants since the launch of the scheme.
Karen Munro
Karen is one of the LSA’s Senior Service Planners. She is also a registered Occupational Therapist who has experience in the areas of acute in-patient care, inpatient rehabilitation and community based occupational therapy services, including therapy based intervention, vocational return to work services and assisting employers in achieving a safe workplace.
Karen has most recently worked with people who have varying injuries or conditions, including spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, amputations, burns, multi-trauma, ischaemic heart disease and cerebral palsy.
As well as working directly with participants and their families, Karen is leading a project at the LSA to facilitate a service delivery model for indigenous participants, including those that reside in the APY lands.
Nicole de la Perrelle
Nicole is also a Senior Service Planner and an Occupational Therapist! She has many years of experience working with clients who have serious brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputation. She has clinical experience in rehabilitation for people with neurological damage and complex injuries. Nicole is passionate about finding ways to motivate and support people with serious injuries in order to help them to maximise their potential, and is committed to exploring new and innovative approaches to practice.
Nicole has just returned from a trek in Nepal as part of the Leprosy Mission’s ‘Trek for Treatment’ fundraiser.
Sharon Cates
Sharon recently joined the LSA’s Service Planning team as a locum, and brings more than 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist in the acute and rehabilitation sectors. She works with people who have serious lifelong disability, and has also been a Service Coordinator in community health and support services. She also has experience working in clinical advisory and management roles, and in service development and project roles for improving services for people in the community.
Sharon has recently returned to Australia after completing a Clinical Standards Coordinator role for an NGO in Indonesia. She is passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals and live as independently as possible.
