Liz Cohen has been appointed as CEO of CARA, bringing to the organisation more than 30 years experience in the disability, health and education sectors.
Prior to CARA, Liz was the Executive General Manager of Client Services for the Can:Do Group.
As one of three preferred providers for Attendant Care to LSA participants, Liz said she is looking forward to working with the LSA to improve the lives of scheme participants.
“The Lifetime Support Scheme mirrors our philosophy of giving a voice and control to the person we are supporting, so that they make the decisions about their own life choices,” she said.
“We were thrilled to support the LSA’s first participant in 2014. They now live independently and no longer require attendant support. It’s heart-warming to watch the progress of participants, and help them enhance their independent living skills.”
“Our goal is to assist people to achieve their goals and aspirations and help them to be active participants in their lives.”
Liz has a new strategic plan for the organisation underway, and has a particular focus on customer and partnership engagement, preparation for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and strengthening the quality of services CARA provides.
CARA services include home support, community engagement, respite, short-term support holiday options and independent living support including shopping.
